Nimai Bhattacharya started his career as a journalist in an insignificant daily in Kolkata. He lost this hard earned job since he exposed the corruption of the newspaper’s employers who were known Gandhians. Later he shifted to Delhi and worked with a national daily for 25 years before he returned to Kolkata to pursue his literary career. He has been closed to the Indian and world leaders of the time and visited a number of countries as a journalist. Nimai Bhattacharya appeared in the literary scene with his first book, ‘Rajdhanir Nepathye (In the Backdrop of the Capital City)’ in 1964. His romantic novel ‘Memsaheb (My Fair Lady)’ instantly brought him success and fame as a popular novelist. Since then he has written more than a hundred novels. His other novels like, ‘Parliament Street’. ‘Defense Colony’ and ‘Diplomat’ received wide commendation.
