Nirendranath Chakraborty (19th October, 1924) is a popular contemporary Bengali poet
He won the Sahitya Academy Award in 1974 for the book of poems Ulanga Raja (The Naked King).
He served as the editor of Anandamela, a very popular children's magazine. He has long been associated with Bangla Academy. He loves playing Bridge and traveling.
AMALKANTI is a 35mm format short film based on a poem by Nirendranath Chakravarthi, directed by ARK Reepon made by the Group-B students of 2nd Advance Film Appreciation Course 2007-08, Bangladesh Film Archive.
