Troilokyanath Mukhopadhyay (1847−1919), was a renowned Bengali author. He was born in Rahuta Village of Chabbishparagana, West Bengal.
He was a self educated man.He was a school teacher in Daroka (Birbhum),Ukhra (Raniganj) and in Sahajadpur (Sirajganj)and afterward, a police sub-inspector in Cuttack (1868). He met Sir William Hunter in this period. He joined as a clerk in "Bengal Gazetteer Office" (1870).He became main clerk in agricultural & business department of Uttar-paschim pradesh and became the P.A. of departmental directorate. Later on he joined revenue department of Indian Government (1881) and joined as an assistant curator in Kolkata Museum (1886).
Troilokyanath Mukhopadhyay’s literary life started after retirement. He is called the best satirist of Bangla Language.[citation needed] His literary works were included in the curriculum of school level, secondary, higher secondary and graduation level Bengali Literature in Bangladesh.
